Trauma Conversations in the Community

Trauma Conversations in the Community are conversations and workshops that are intended to be unique, community-based interventions against the normalization of trauma.

Our first of four Trauma Conversations, “Unity in the Community: We Are Not Alone,” took place at Manchester Elementary on April 24, 2018. Participants shared stories of trauma, experienced human connection within and despite experiences of suffering, and learned self-healing techniques such as mindfulness, calm breathing, and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)–a unique modality that combines acupressure and mindfulness to interrupt somatic trauma reactions.

Holistic treatment for trauma care in this context provides on-site opportunities to experience this care free of charge. Additional Conversations that are planned will be located in the Hill District, Braddock and the West End.
