Pain travels through family lines until someone is ready to heal it in themselves. Intergenerational trauma often goes unrecognized and can profoundly affect future generations. It is a concept developed to help explain the oppressive effects of a family’s historical traumatic events that are passed through the generations.
It is often therapeutic for us to consider how the wounds of our ancestors may have impacted us by default because of the cycles of trauma that they have created. In this session, we explore the topic of intergenerational trauma and review ways to approach healing at the root.
This month, we are honored to welcome Anita D Russell to the panel. Anita was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. Her fluid life spans multiple disciplines, including academic research, pharmaceutical R&D, learning and development, web design, e-learning design, and youth and community leadership. Now working independently, Anita is the founder and creator of The Place to SOAR LLC, a social enterprise dedicated to cultivating change from the inside out—the true power of being human. Additionally, she designed an Activism through Coaching model to empower antiracism activation through courage, conversation, relationship, and accountability.
Join us for our monthly panel discussion on healing from Trauma. Learn various techniques our panelists have used to heal and move forward and embrace the reclaiming of self, their relationships and their lives.
It is critical that our efforts strengthen, so we can begin to heal these invisible wounds. They are crucial in promoting the healthy development of children and adults and healthy behaviors in families, schools and communities, thereby reducing the likelihood of trauma.
$5 Donation Requested. Your gift will be used to help us attain our goal of establishing a community and retreat center for the local community. Your generosity of any amount is greatly appreciated.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE, an OMA Webinar Series featuring a panel conversation on trauma and recovery—We are all connected on this journey of healing, of both self and humanity, from our own individual traumas as well as our collective traumas.
Let’s all drop the pretense that we are either normal, or abnormal…
We are all in the same support group: ordinary people who must deal with the struggles that come with being human. We all carry this heavy weight—a trauma, whether from childhood abuse, childhood adverse experiences (ACE's),domestic violence, gaslighting, bullying, emotional/ verbal abuse and manipulation, medical trauma, and injury. We all at the same time struggle to meet our basic human needs for connection, community, acceptance, and validation among ones who share our culture and language, or not, for authenticity–the capacity to feel what we feel and to be in touch with our bodies and to express what we feel when we need to.
Fundamentally, that is the ultimate trauma, the disconnection from ourselves…
In this webinar series we believe that in the presence of compassion, healing is possible. Only with compassion can we bear our pain. In the Tibetan Book of Living and Dying the author says, whatever you do don’t shut off your pain. Accept your pain and remain vulnerable. –Mai Nguyen, Panelist

I am so looking forward to this seminar. I have to break these generational curses!
This Seminar was absolutely incredible, I woke up the next morning so inspired. I took away new ways to get myself through situations that I would run from. Letting myself be vulnerable to listen and work through things and not run. I thank everyone on the panel for listening and allowing me to share a part of my Journey , it felt good to say it out loud! I am looking forward to the next seminar. Thank you, Teena Libe
